Bradford shut down three more weeks

Texas Rangers pitcher Cody Bradford will be shut down from throwing for another three weeks, manager Bruce Bochy announced today. In addition, Jon Gray, who suffered a fractured wrist on a comebacker on Friday, will be shut down for at least six weeks, and possibly longer.

Bradford was scratched from his last scheduled start due to elbow pain, and the initial reports were that he would be shut down for five to seven days. Although an MRI on his elbow reportedly came back clean, the timeline for Bradford throwing again has been pushed back significantly, and between building back up and rehab outings, mid-May would seem to be the earliest realistic time frame to hope for Bradford to return to the rotation.
