That veneer of Canadian niceness is quickly fading as the owner of Fort Worth's Heim Barbecue is getting death threats from Blue Jays fans unhappy that his restaurant offered free food to the Rangers' Rougned Odor after popping Toronto's Jose Bautista in the jaw last week.
After Odor's famed punch, the restaurant started selling shirts that read "Rougned Eats Free" with a promise to match. An order for 40 shirts quickly ballooned into the hundreds.
As the story caught worldwide attention, the trolls and threats were quick to follow. The Dallas Observer reported Monday that Heim has received nasty tweets, vulgar and threatening voicemails (WARNING: extremely vulgar), and a handful of 1-star restaurant reviews from Canadian-based Facebook accounts and Jays fans.
