Big Sexy miracle: How vagabond pitcher Bartolo Colon has been the Rangers' savior

TORONTO - Used to be, Gaylord Perry, the Hall of Fame pitcher, would show up at events wearing a novelty jersey that had the logos of the eight different teams for which he played sewn on to the front.

With that crowded jersey, he played up the role of baseball’s ultimate vagabond to laughs wherever he went.

When Bartolo Colon does the same, whenever he calls it a career, he’s going to need a second jersey. And, no, this isn’t a joke about his size.

Backed by a little early offense, Colon pitched seven innings and beat Toronto, 7-4, Saturday to earn his first win with the Rangers.
