"I still have some work to do to find some consistency," Beltre said. "All I want to do is get out of here healthy and turn it on when the season starts."
Athletics starter Kendall Graveman, the leading candidate for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks. He threw 57 pitches.
"With a team like the Rangers, I need to change speeds and not be so predictable," Graveman said.
Rangers starter Phil Klein, who is trying to find some traction toward winning a spot in the Texas rotation, went 2 2/3 innings.
