OAKLAND -- Adrian Beltre singled leading off the second inning on Tuesday night, moving him into a tie with Rod Carew for most hits ever by a player from Latin America.
Beltre's single off of Athletics pitcher Kendall Graveman gives him 3,053 for his career. That ties him with Carew, who is from Panama, for 25th all-time overall and first among players from Latin America. Beltre is a native of the Dominican Republic and is already the career leader from that country.
Carew spent 19 years in the big leagues with the Twins and Angels from 1967-85.
