TORONTO -- Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre had to come out of Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Blue Jays on Thursday in the third inning due to lower back stiffness.
The Rangers said that Beltre hurt his back trying to break up a double play on Prince Fielder's grounder in the first inning.
Beltre hit a two-out RBI single to center in the third to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead but could barely run to first base. Center fielder Kevin Pillar threw to home trying to get Delino DeShields, but if he had thrown to first, Beltre would have been out.
