OAKLAND -- Adrian Beltre reached another milestone on Thursday, when he doubled in the second inning off of Athletics starter Daniel Mengden. That gave him 3,054 career hits, the most ever by a player from Latin America.
Beltre, who is from the Dominican Republic, passed Rod Carew of Panama with a line drive into left field. He is now 24th on the all-time hit list, one behind Rickey Henderson, who has 3,055 hits.
Beltre ended up scoring in the inning on singles by Nomar Mazara and Rougned Odor to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
