SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers third base coach Tony Beasley rejoined the team Sunday after being diagnosed with Stage II rectal cancer, and pronounced himself optimistic that he will make a full recovery.
Beasley told reporters that he will soon undergo four rounds of chemotherapy at two-week intervals. At the end of the cycle, doctors will determine whether he needs additional chemotherapy, and possibly radiation or surgery.
"We feel good about catching it in time,'' Beasley said. "I'm a Christian man. I'm a strong man of faith. My belief is through my faith in God, I'm already delivered from this.
