Bartolo Colon's spot in Rangers' rotation still not permanent after flirting with perfection

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Bartolo Colon's superb performance against Houston, the reigning World Series champion, did not earn him a guaranteed, full-time spot in the Rangers' rotation.

Manager Jeff Banister said on Monday that Colon will remain in the rotation as the replacement for injured right-hander Doug Fister, on the disabled list because of a strained right hip. Colon's next start is scheduled for Saturday against Seattle at Globe Life Park.

Banister would not commit to having Colon in the rotation for an extended period solely because of his performance.

Colon on Sunday retired the first 21 Houston hitters faced.
