In need of at least one start, the Rangers will on Thursday purchase the contract of the 33-year-old right-hander who was last season's feel-good story. Bibens-Dirkx will start Thursday against Kansas City. The Rangers need a starter because Matt Moore is on the disabled list with knee soreness.
Bibens-Dirks, who spent 12 years in the minor and independent leagues before getting his first shot, was the Rangers' Rookie of the Year last year, going 5-2 with a 4.67 ERA in 24 games (six starts) and 69.1 innings.
