Austin Bibens-Dirkx has signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers. The 34 year old righthanded pitcher is starting tonight for the Nashville Sounds, the Rangers’ AAA affiliate.
Bibens-Dirkx was a minor league lifer who ended up making his major league debut in 2017 with the Rangers at the age of 32. He had a solid year for Texas, putting up a 4.67 ERA in 6 starts and 18 relief appearances, and was resigned to a minor league deal for 2018. Bibens-Dirkx struggled last year, though, and hasn’t pitched professionally in 2019.
