At last, Rangers' Joey Gallo has a sac-fly on his resume after superb day of situational hitting

ARLINGTON - The wait ended on Sunday for Joey Gallo and the Rangers.

He hit a sacrifice fly during an 11-10 win against Houston at Globe Life Park. It was his first sacrifice fly in 74 career plate appearances with a runner at third and fewer than two outs, and it brought an eruption from the Rangers’ bench.

“That was pretty cool to get that out of the way,’’ said Gallo, who made only his seventh career start at cleanup. “I was pretty sick of hearing about it. I was very excited about that.”

His next goal is to pass Luke Easter for sacrifice flies among players with at least 1,000 career at-bats.
