The San Diego Padres and the Oakland A’s have made a trade, per Jeff Passan on Twitter. Infielder Jorge Mateo was dealt to San Diego from Oakland for a player to be named later.
This is not a particularly noteworthy deal — Mateo was dealt to the A’s by the New York Yankees in July, 2017, as part of the Sonny Gray deal, and he was a top-100 prospect before the 2016, 2017 and 2018 seasons, but he didn’t hit at all in 2018, and he didn’t hit much (considering he was playing for Las Vegas) in 2019.
