Arlington represents a land of opportunity for Tim Lincecum, and the Rangers are willing to wait for him

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- To understand what Tim Lincecum could mean to the Rangers, ask his manager for nine seasons and three World Series victories with San Francisco.

"I have a special place for Tim for all that he did for the Giants and for myself,'' Bruce Bochy said. "We don't win those championships without Timmy.

"He wasn't just a great player but a great teammate"

Lincecum officially became a Ranger on Wednesday with the completion of a one-year deal.

The signing counts as a victory for the Rangers. Lincecum chose them over the Los Angeles Dodgers, reigning National League champion.
