Keith Jackson, longtime sports announcer who was The Voice of college football for the first 35 years of my life (and for a number of years before that), has passed away at the age of 89, per multiple reports.
Jackson is one of those people who, even if you didn’t know who he was, you knew the voice -- he was a consistent presence in American sporting events for a half-century, covering a wide variety of sporting events, including the legendary 16 inning NLCS game between the Astros and Mets in 1986 and a number of Olympic games.
