Gallo's injury is a setback. The Rangers were hoping he would be able to play winter ball in Venezuela, but the injury has cut that short. He ended up playing just three games for Magallanes and went 2-for-7 with a home run.

The Rangers were hoping the time in Venezuela would make up for at-bats lost during the season and help him prepare to compete for a spot in Spring Training. Gallo is one of the candidates to play first base with Mitch Moreland getting ready to enter free agency.
