ARLINGTON -- Catcher Jorge Alfaro, who is the No. 2 prospect in the Rangers organization according to mlb.com, has suffered a severe left ankle injury and could miss the rest of the season.
"He is in a boot," Rangers farm director Mike Daly said. "We're looking at all various treatment options. He could be out for some meaningful time."
Alfaro, who turned 22 on Thursday, had played in 49 games for Double-A Frisco and hit .253 with five home runs and 51 RBIs. He had a .314 on-base percentage and a .432 slugging percentage.
This is the third time in four seasons that Alfaro has had a significant injury.
