A.J. Griffin has signed a minor league deal with the Mets

A.J. Griffin spent the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers, offering a nice story (he missed most of two seasons with Tommy John surgery and shoulder issues) as well as some rotation depth. Alas, he wasn’t very good or very durable, and as a result, the Rangers opted to non-tender him, rather than go to arbitration with him and keep him on the 40 man roster.

After being on the market most of the winter, Griffin has apparently agreed to a minor league deal with the New York Mets. The Mets have a lot of starting pitching options, but they also have a lot of guys who have problems staying healthy, so depending on what happens in the next month-plus, Griffin could get a chance to break camp with the Mets.
