After a two-month stint on the disabled list to start the season, Adrian Beltre notched his first hit of the season last week.
It marked his 2017 regular-season debut, but also kicked off the third baseman's approach to the 3,000-hit club. When Beltre gets the hit, it will be a landmark moment for him and the Rangers. Beltre enters Tuesday's series opener against the New York Mets needing 49 hits to join the club.
Only 30 players have reached 3,000 hits in major league history. For Beltre, the ideal milestone hit would figure in a win. That is his character.
