Acuna tears ACL, done for 2024

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after tearing his left ACL, the team announced this evening. Acuna will have to undergo surgery.

This is the second time Acuna has had a season cut short due to a torn ACL. He tore his right ACL in July, 2021, which also necessitated surgery, and didn’t return until the end of April, 2022.

This is a huge blow to the Braves, even though Acuna had gotten off to a slow start in 2024, slashing .246/.348/.356 on the year. Acuna was the unanimous pick for the National League MVP in 2023, when he hit 41 home runs, stole 73 bases, and put up a 1012 OPS.
