I gotta admit, my attention was mostly on viewing the latest season of Game of Thrones as I aimed to re-familiarize myself with the series ahead of tonight’s premiere but even the unrelenting depravity of Westeros seemed way less dispiriting and brutal than this Rangers game I had on in the background until Texas pulled a real Beric Dondarrion and came back from the dead.
I really don’t know what happened. The Rangers had three hits coming into the eighth inning and they all came off the bat of Elvis Andrus. Somehow, down 7-4 with just six outs remaining, they scored four runs with Danny Santana of all people collecting the biggest hit in the inning in his first at-bat as Ranger as he plated the tying runs via a triple and scored the go-ahead and eventual winning run when Delino DeShields bunted him in with two-out.
