If these are indeed our final moments with Adrian Beltre, he’s decided that he’s going out with a bang.
In what had to have been an emotionally charged game for the Rangers after the afternoon announcement that manager Jeff Banister had been let go, Beltre homered for the second straight game in his first at-bat.
The three-run blast was Beltre’s 14th of the season and gave the Rangers a lead moments after Connor Sadzeck completed his inning of work at Texas’ opener and moments before Ariel Jurado would come in with the gift of some breathing room.
