65-73 - Leiter not yet good enough as Yankees topple Texas 8-4

The Texas Rangers scored four runs but the New York Yankees scored eight runs.

Jack Leiter returned to the majors and what awaited him was not the Chicago White Sox, the worst team in modern memory, but instead the American League’s top squad in both record and offensive capability.

Facing his toughest test yet, Leiter was actually improved as, even though he had a hiccup in the third inning when he allowed two runs, he worked his way through five innings with Texas trailing just 2-1 while opposed by the reigning American League Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole.
