The Texas Rangers are planning on calling up lefthander Joe Palumbo to start one of the games of the doubleheader slated for Tuesday, August 20, making his start tonight for Nashville potentially his final minor league game of the season. If it was, he ended his AAA season in spectacular fashion, throwing 6 no hit innings with 7 Ks and just 2 walks. Pedro Payano is slated to pitch the other game of the doubleheader, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Payano started game 1 and then was sent down to make room for Palumbo for game 2, with Palumbo staying in the rotation after that.
