The Texas Rangers scored seven runs while the Boston Red Sox scored four runs.
This wasn’t supposed to work. With the rotation recently in tatters, and with the staff in general sucking wind, the Rangers were forced to turn to Cody Bradford for his first start since April 10 and just his second appearance overall since returning to action late last month.
The Red Sox, meanwhile, were glad to send righty Tanner Houck to a Globe Life mound that he climbed earlier this summer as an All-Star. For a while, things went about as expected as the Rangers trailed 3-0, Bradford lasted just 3 2⁄3 innings, and Texas was whiffing at Houck sweepers.
