The Texas Rangers lost unquestionably their best player and AL MVP candidate Joey Gallo on the first day of June. Two days later, they had a day off following an Adrian Sampson 11 strikeout performance to take a series from the Kansas City Royals.
That day off would be Texas’ last until tomorrow as the Rangers played 21 games in the last 20 days thanks to a doubleheader against the A’s that was crammed in an already exhausting summer schedule.
The thing is, this stretch should have sunk the Rangers.
