When news broke Sunday that the Rangers signed 44-year-old pitcher Bartolo Colon to a minor league deal, Rangers fans (probably) reacted one of two ways:
2. This is a dream come true.
Both of those reactions are valid. After all, Colon finished last season with a 7-14 record and an ERA of 6.48, the highest of his career.
So, why would the Rangers want him?
Well, for one, Colon can still pitch incredibly well for someone his age. He's practically a miracle.
He profiles similarly to pitchers like Jack Morris, Dennis Martinez and Catfish Hunter -- in both age and fantastic late-career numbers.
