In Rangers news tonight, Shin-Soo Choo battled through an ailing left ankle on Sunday, slotting into the starting lineup at designated hitter as the Rangers romped over the Tigers by a count of 12-2.
Per T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, "Sunday marked the ninth time in 24 starts that Choo has been used at designated hitter since he sprained the ankle on April 21 against the Athletics."
Choo missed five games directly after the injury, but has been fighting through the pain ever since. The Rangers and manager Ron Washington are now starting to realize that Choo will most likely need a good portion of rest from the field, and that designated hitter may be the best compromise to keep his road-killing bat in the lineup.
Coming into Sunday's contest with the Tigers, Choo was hitting .403 on the road - the best mark in all of Major League Baseball.
