The Texas Longhorns pulled off the biggest upset of this Saturday, giving Baylor their first loss of the season with a 35-34 victory. It was a needed win for the Longhorns, who had lost four of their previous five games coming into the game. Here are three things we learned from the victory:
3) D'Onta Foreman might be the best back in the country
If Texas wasn't 4-4 on the season, Foreman would be getting some serious Heisman hype right about now. He has been Texas' best player all year, rushing for at least 130 yards in every game - culminating in a 250-yard, two-touchdown performance against Baylor. Perhaps every more impressively was that Foreman put up those numbers on just 32 carries. Foreman has put himself in prime position to win the Doak Walker Award for best running back in the country at the end of the season.
2) Charlie Strong still has his job...for now
Strong is hanging on to the Texas job by a thread (some would say he's already lost it), but this was the kind of win he needed if he's going to keep it. The Longhorns only have one game left against a ranked team, and it comes at West Virginia. This was Texas' best chance to get a serious season-changing win, and they got it. If Texas wins out, could this be the marquee win that keeps him his job?
1) The Big 12 is out of the College Football Playoff
Thanks to Baylor's loss, the Big 12 has no undefeated teams remaining since WVU lost at Oklahoma State earlier in the day. Oklahoma is now the only team that is undefeated in conference play, and they have two non-conference losses. Many think the Big 12 needed to have an undefeated conference champion to make the College Football Playoff this year, and that can no longer be the case. Oklahoma won't get in because of their two losses even if they go undefeated the rest of the way. Yeah, the Big 12 will be left out of the playoff again.
