The Texas Longhorns will be going to a bowl game for the first time since 2014, showing that the program is taking a step in the right direction in the first year of the Tom Herman era. So, who can they expect to play? Here are the 3 most likely bowl opponents for Texas this year.
Texas A&M Aggies
This is going to happen at some point, right? These two rivals almost met in the Texas Bowl in 2014 and there's a very good possibility that they'd meet there again. The Aggies and Longhorns haven't met since 2011, and pitting them against each other in a bowl game would create an unprecedented amount of buzz. It's certainly the game the Texas fan base wants.
Kentucky Wildcats
But, if the Longhorns don't get to face the Aggies, Kentucky is the other SEC team they're likely to play in either the Texas Bowl or Liberty Bowl. The Wildcats are 7-4 and finished with a 4-4 mark in conference play, giving them a similar resume to the Longhorns. There would likely be plenty of seats available for Longhorns fans, too, unless UK fans start traveling like they do for basketball games.

Oregon Ducks
There's also the possibility that Texas could meet a Pac-12 team in either the Alamo Bowl or Cactus Bowl, in which case they would probably be paired with Oregon. The Ducks are bowl eligible after missing out on the postseason last year and would undoubtedly bring some fans with them because of that. Plus, brand names like Texas and Oregon would make for a must-watch bowl game.
