The Texas Longhorns have turned all of their attention to the recruiting trail after wrapping up spring practice, and head coach Charlie Strong is certainly making waves. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding Texas football recruiting:
4-star RB interested in hearing for Texas
Four-star running back Toneil Carter (Houston, TX) has a top four of Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and Michigan State, but he is hoping to add the Longhorns to the list.
“I’m a little interested in them, but I just don’t know," he said. "I haven’t really looked into it too hard or anything like that. I haven’t visited, so I don’t really know. I really don’t know what it’s like. I haven’t really had many conversations with them. I know Coach (Anthony) Johnson played there. I’d be open to hearing more from him.”
The 5'10", 200-pounder is ranked as the No. 6 running back and No. 89 overall prospect in the country.
Top 2018 WR "loved" Texas visit
Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (Bellaire, TX) visited Texas to take in practice late last week, and was very impressed with what he saw during his time on campus and on the field.
“I loved the Texas practice,” Waddle said, via 247sports. “It was intense as I thought it would be with Coach Strong leading the way. I liked the way he got after it with the players. I really liked it a lot.
"I really like Texas. It’s a great program. I like what Coach Strong is trying to build. They have a lot of tradition. I just like it overall. I’m really interested in them.”
Waddle doesn't have a scholarship offer yet from Texas, but is hoping one comes soon.
“I’m just starting to build a relationship with them. They want to get to know me more and see me in the spring. I talked to Coach Strong a lot. I liked him. He was straightforward. Coach Williams asked me a lot of questions and things like that.”
The 5'9", 167-pounder speedster is one of the top slot receivers in the 2018 class
