Fall recruiting season is ramping up right now for all college football teams, making this a crucial time for head coaches and their staffs to make plays for blue-chippers around the nation. The Texas Longhorns are no exception. With that being said, here's our weekend recruiting roundup for the program.
UT fighting off Ohio State for 5-star safety
Five-star 2017 South Grand Prairie safety Jeffrey Okudah has named Ohio State as the current leader for his pledge. Per a 247Sports report, Okudah feels like the Longhorns haven't contacted him enough as of late -- thus his declaration of the Buckeyes being his favorite.
Texas will get a chance to make amends this weekend when Okudah visits Fort Worth to watch the Longhorns take on TCU.
Kansas offers potential Longhorns target
Via EJ Holland of Horns247:
"Kansas is the latest to extend an offer to 2018 Prestonwood Christian defensive back Verone McKinley. The four-star prospect recently visited Texas, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Longhorns jump in the mix sooner rather than later."
There has been no official word as to whether or not the Longhorns are actually interested in targeting McKinley. However, all signs point to an offer in the near future.
