The Texas Longhorns had a very successful Early Signing Day on Wednesday, signing 19 of their 21 commitments to secure their place as the No. 3 recruiting class in the country. However, recruiting the 2018 class isn't done with traditional signing day on Feb. 7 still looming. As such, here are all the latest Texas recruiting news & rumors you need to know:
Top targets for Feb. 7 signing day
Four-star running back Keaontay Ingram (Carthage, TX) and four-star defensive tackle Keondre Coburn (Houston, TX) are the only two current Texas commits who haven't signed, and keeping both is the top priority for head coach Tom Herman and his staff.
Coburn is the biggest concern for the Longhorns as Alabama, TCU, Texas A&M, and UCLA are all heavily pursuing him. He plans to visit those schools (he made officials to Texas and TCU each of the last two weekends, respectively), yet as the only defensive lineman currently committed in this class, Texas is working extra hard to keep him.
LSU, Ohio State, and USC are also pursuing Ingram, but he's thought to be pretty firm on his commitment. As for other prospects the Longhorns are trying to get in this recruiting class...
Longhorns to flip Baylor commit
Three-star running back Craig Williams (Crosby, TX) committed to Baylor in August, but after receiving an offer from Texas, he's expected to flip the Longhorns, according to EJ Holland of Horns247.
Baylor commit Craig Williams, who recently picked up a Texas offer, is slated to sign tomorrow at noon. However, sources have told us that there is still a chance he’ll wait until the late signing period.
The 5-foot-9, 170-pounder is ranked as the No. 10 all-purpose back and No. 430 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247sports Composite.
