Just a day before the recruiting dead period, Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong made his way to the Dallas area to visit four-star North Mesquite offensive lineman and top defensive target Jean Delance.
Texas offensive line coach Matt Mattox was slated join him. With several teams in on the standout OL, Strong and Mattox are looking to curry favor with the in-state standout in hopes of keeping him within Texas' borders.
Delance took an official visit to Michigan this weekend. From all accounts, Delance loved it in Ann Arbor and could see himself playing for Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. Texas is still a prohibitive favorite to land Delance, however, with Texas A&M the current runner-up.
Ranked as the #11 offensive tackle and #90 overall player in the Class of 2016, Delance currently has 26 offers on the table. While it's unclear just how his Wolverines visit will affect the current order for his pledge, Strong's visit on Sunday could be enough to keep him focused on the Longhorns.
That's going to be key, considering the dead period will keep Texas from having key face-to-face contact with the top OL recruit.
