The Texas Longhorns are in the midst of spring practice in preparation for the 2016 season, but that doesn't mean head coach Charlie Strong & Co. have taken a step back on the recruiting trail. Here are all the latest news and rumors surrounding Texas recruiting:
5-star LB to visit Texas
Five-star LB/RB Dylan Moses, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2017 class, tweeted that he plans to visit Alabama, LSU, and Texas during his spring break next week, signaling that those are his top three schools.
He visited Texas early in the process, and he loves head coach Charlie Strong and everything Texas has to offer.
"I like the program,” Moses said, via 247sports. “The coaches tell you what you need to hear rather than what you want to hear. They are always on you. They are coaches that you can always talk to. They are very down to earth.”
Moses, a Louisiana-native, originally committed to LSU before re-opening his recruitment in August. LSU and Alabama figure to be the top contenders to land him, with Texas currently sitting in third.
Another 5-star LB also high on Texas
Five-star linebacker Baron Browning (Kennedale, TX) visited Texas on Junior Day a few weeks ago, and he is still very interestedin the Longhorns.
“The reason I really like Texas is Coach (Charlie) Strong and the way he runs his program,” Browning said, via 247sports. “I like how he keeps everybody in line. He helps you mature as a man. I also like the academic support that they provide for the students.
“Texas has some great linebackers. If I went there it could be a dynamic duo with Malik (Jefferson), I guess you could say. I’m just looking forward to seeing them this season and how Coach BJ is helping them develop. I’m not worried about seeing them win. I want to see how the linebackers develop.”
Browning is ranked as the No. 2 linebacker and No. 17 overall prospect in the 2017 class.
4-star S planning Texas visit
Four-star safety Grant Delpit (Houston, TX) also plans to make an unofficial visit to Austin at somepoint this spring. He is scheduled to visit Baylor this weekend, and also said he is hoping to visit Ole Miss and USC, two of his other top schools.
Delpit is ranked as the No. 246 overall prospect and No. 18 safety in the 2017 class.
