The unranked Texas Longhorns are 1-4 and face a critical game against the undefeated #10 Oklahoma Sooners. It's a game the Longhorns aren't expected to win, but also a game the program could use as a massive momentum boost. While the game is the first thing on everyone's minds right now, there's also plenty of intrigue around the program's recruiting efforts heading into the weekend. Here's a quick look at the biggest recruiting action around Austin this weekend:
Texas Cooling On 5-Star RB?
Toneil Carter is a 5-star recruit in the class of 2017 and is the second-ranked RB according to 247Sports. However, Carter told 247Sports that Texas isn't recruiting him as hard as it was earlier.
“That’s a good question,” Carter told 247 when asked about the last time Texas contacted him. “I still get tweets on Twitter and stuff from them, but that’s about it.”
That could be because Texas A&M and LSU are the heavy favorites to land the talented RB. Texas might have decided to spend its time on players the Longhorns believe they can still sign.
4-Star RB High On Texas
Kaegun Williams is a 4-star RB without an offer from Texas, but he's a fan of the school.
“I like Texas,” Williams told 247Sports. “I’ve had family members that have gone to UT, so I’ve always grown up liking them. I know that they are in a rebuilding process right now. But I like the program overall and the tradition.”
247Sports expects Williams to attend Texas, assuming the school extends an offer.
