The Texas Longhorns have a new coach in Tom Herman and he's not wasting much time in building a recruiting class. Texas only had a handful of commitments (that's how former coach Charlie Strong liked it), but Herman does have a lot of official visits to use. With a recruiting dead period nearly here, the Longhorns are trying to make major waves on the recruiting trail. Here is all the latest Texas recruiting news and rumors you need to know:
Texas Makes More Offers
With Herman now in charge, the Longhorns are making multiple offers to recruits. One is a JUCO kicker, something Texas fans likely appreciate given the special teams issues under Charlie Strong. Texas offered JUCO Josh Rowland, per his Twitter. Rowland played at Mississippi Gulf Coast with only a handful of offers.
Also getting an offer is LB Marqez Bimage, who is a currently committed to Houston. Bimage revealed the offer on his Twitter.
I've lived in Texas my whole life. Receiving a scholarship from Texas University means a lot. God bless and #hookem pic.twitter.com/9x0hAD7WIh

Bimage is a three-star recruit, who also has offers from LSU, Texas Tech and Cal. Even if he meant the University of Texas and not Texas University, Bimage clearly values the Texas offer.
Recruits Visit This Weekend
With the recruiting dead period approaching, Herman and Texas are making the most of their time with recruits. Multiple recruits visited this weekend, including QB Sam Ehlinger, WR Omar Manning, TE Reese Leitao and TE Salvatore Cannella. Ehlinger has already committed to Texas and remains firm, while Manning is pledged to TCU and Leitao is committed to Nebraska. Texas has a shot with Manning, while Leitao told 247Sports he had fun on his trip, but despite the offer from Texas, he remains committed to Nebraska.
TE Target To Make Decision Wednesday
Cannella is the lone member of those four who has yet to commit, but he'll make a decision this coming week. The JUCO TE could provide Texas with some immediate help at the position. He's visited Auburn and will also consider Maryland. He'll make his choice on Wednesday, with Auburn the current favorite for the No. 2 JUCO tight end and No. 22 overall JUCO recruit.
