The Texas Longhorns are ramping up their pursuit of four-star defensive end Bryan Jones (Baton Rouge, LA), and is in the process of setting up a visit to Austin.
“I like the coaching staff,” Jones said, via 247sports. “I like the program overall and what they’re trying to do. I like Coach (Charlie) Strong. He’s a very cool man and very humble. He’s about business, which I like. They have very cool mail.
“Coach (Brick) Haley is a great coach. He’s been telling me great things. He just wants to get me down there for a visit, so I can see everything. They want to show me what they have to offer. But we have a really good relationship.”
Texas is currently chasing LSU, who is viewed as the leader for Jones, as they're his hometown school and the only school he has visited to this point. However, one thing going in the Longhorns' favor is Jones' relationship with 2016 Texas signee Malcolm Roach, who was his teammate last year.
“Malcolm is basically my big brother. He hasn’t told me too much about Texas lately. He’s just letting me enjoy the recruiting process. But he’s told me how nice the campus and the environment is.”
The 6'5", 240-pounder is ranked as the No. 6 defensive end and No. 217 overall prospect in the country.
