The Texas Longhorns' season ended on Friday with a loss to TCU, and they already have a new coach in Tom Herman. Texas had been unable to build as strong of a recruiting class as they would've liked due to the uncertainty of Charlie Strong's job status, but know that Herman has the reins, expect the Longhorns to start making major waves on the recruiting trail. Here is all the latest Texas recruiting news and rumors you need to know:
Herman's recruiting pitch
Texas currently has seven commitments in the 2017 class, and Herman and his staff know they have some work to do to get this class to the level they want it at. At his introductory press conference, Herman revealed what his recruiting pitch will be to prospects before National Signing Day:
“There is talent here,” he said. “You’re going to be playing with some talented players, and you’re going to be the best trained team in America. You’re going to be physically and mentally tough. You are going to be the most physically and mentally tough team on the field.
“They are going to know that they are going to get one of the premier educations in the country living in the city of Austin, playing for a bunch of men that love them and want to build them into better husbands, better fathers and better employees. Winning is just a byproduct of that love.”
Those seven current commitments include five four-star prospects and two three-star prospects, with defensive end Lagaryonn Carson (No. 73 recruit in the country) headlining the group.
4-star LB not considering Texas after Strong's firing
One player Herman won't get the chance to win over is four-star linebacker Levi Jones (Austin, TX). Jones is set to release his top schools this week, and Texas was expected to be on that list. Now, his father, former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Robert Jones, says they are no longer considering the Longhorns without Charlie Strong.
Well @TheViJones , what do you think? Charlie Strong was Texas only shot & they got rid of him.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder is ranked as the No. 12 outside linebacker and No. 168 overall prospect in the country.
Houston commits Longhorns could target
One way Herman could potentially strengthen his class quickly is to flip some of the prospects who committed to him at Houston. 247sports highlighted five guys that Herman would be the most likely to go after:
3-star S Donovan Stiner (No. 89 S, No. 1156 overall prospect)
3-star QB Bryson Smith (No. 20 dual threat QB, No. 952 overall prospect)
3-star OT Matthew Hun (No. 78 OT, No. 723 overall prospect)
3-star CB Timarcus Davis (No. 56 CB, No. 551 overall prospect)
3-star LB Mohamed Sanogo (No. 18 ILB, No. 418 overall prospect)
