Youngquist wins silver medal at World University Games

GWANGJU, South Korea – Former Longhorn Clay Youngquist helped the United States to a one-two finish and won silver in the 200-meter freestyle Monday on day three of the 2015 World University Games.

Youngquist took the silver in 1 minute, 47.91 seconds while American teammate Reed Malone won the gold in 1:47.15. Jacob Hansford won bronze for Australia in 1:48.29. Youngquist's 1:47.91 eclipsed his personal best of 1:47.93 from the 2014 USA Swimming National Championships last August.

Youngquist (Battle Creek, Mich.), who helped Texas win its 11th NCAA team title last March, reached Monday's final after qualifying sixth during Sunday's semifinal round at 1:48.
