Women’s Track & Field to be honored with Tower Lighting on Thursday

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas Tower will be turned burnt orange on Thursday night in honor of the 11th Big 12 title for the UT women, and a conference-leading seventh indoor-outdoor sweep for the Longhorns. The Texas women secured the second-most (172) points in the history of the Big 12 conference meet, trailing only their own record of 188 points that was set in 2003.

UT used a 115-point surge on the final day to finish 15.5 points in front of second-place Kansas State. The Longhorns were led by a pair of double victories from Teahna Daniels (100m, 200m) and Ashtin Zamzow (heptathlon, javelin), with Daniels taking her third-straight crown in the 100m and Zamzow becoming the first heptathlon winner in program history.
