On the strength of a school-record performance at the White Sands Invitational last week, the Texas women's golf team has moved into the nation's No. 1 spot in the latest Golfweek rankings, announced Wednesday.
The Longhorns won three of their four tournaments this fall. Texas has a 50-2 [.962] record against all opponents this season, including a 16-2 mark against teams ranked in the top-25 at the time of the competition.
In Texas' last outing, the Longhorns won the White Sands Invitational by a school-record 36-under-par to win the event by 29 strokes. The Longhorns turned in a three-round total of 828 [276-278-274], which marked the second-best 54-hole total in school history and best on a par-72 course.
