Even before the NCAA began sponsoring championships for women, intercollegiate athletics teams at The University of Texas were excelling on the national stage.
In the early days, the Longhorns captured three Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women National Championships and have since won 24 NCAA Championships since 1983. Seven of 11 Texas women's athletics teams have won at least one NCAA Championship and the Longhorns have captured national championship crowns in each of the last four decades.
