Losses still matter at Texas -- even after a whole lot of experience in that department this decade.
The responses after the fact matter, too, as second-year coach Tom Herman discovered while trying to find the right tone after an exasperating opening loss to Maryland.
Much of Monday's news conference was marked by what Herman didn't do. He didn't change quarterbacks -- leaving Sam Ehlinger as the starter despite two late-game interceptions -- or much else about the depth chart going into Saturday's home game with Tulsa. He didn't question the team's direction. The nonconference doesn't even count in the Big 12 standings, Herman said.
