The NFL draft process is an inexact science.
Poona Ford is learning this month just how inexact a science it is.
Ford was the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year at Texas, following in the footsteps of past winners Adam Carriker, Brian Orakpo and Ndamukong Suh, all of whom became first-round NFL draft picks. Ford was a team captain and the backbone of a top-10 NCAA run defense. His talent earned him invitations to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl.
But Ford was not one of the 333 players invited to the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis this week.
