Desperately in need of good news in a Texas basketball season that's slipping away, coach Shaka Smart got some this week.
Long-time recruiting target Matt Coleman of Virginia's Oak Hill Academy told an ESPNU audience that he would play basketball next season at Texas and not Duke. Then in explaining his choice, the Longhorns' point guard of the future pretty much diagnosed the problem of the present.
"Watching Texas play, watching both teams play, and just finding out where I was needed more," Coleman said, calling Smart a player's coach. "Constantly, you're just hearing, like 'Texas needs a point guard.
