According to reports, Texas is set to officially demote Bedford and head coach Charlie Strong will assume defensive play-calling duties moving forward. This comes just one week after Strong gave Bedford and his entire coaching staff a vote of confidence coming out of the bye week. That confidence was rewarded with another poor effort in the 49-31 loss to Oklahoma State.
At this point, the move seems inevitable. Texas ranks last in the Big 12 in scoring defense, allowing 38.3 points per game. They’ve surrendered 47 points or more in three of their first four games.
