Texas may not have a starting quarterback to run its new hurry-up spread offense until August.
Coach Charlie Strong indicated last month he would like to name a No. 1 quarterback by the end of spring practice. But with the April 16 spring scrimmage approaching, Strong said Tuesday that he may wait until preseason camp. Texas opens the season Sept. 3 against Notre Dame.
"You got to allow them to compete and just let it play its way out," Strong said after practice. "If it takes that we have to go into fall camp and have to pick a guy, than that's what we will do.
