AUSTIN — Heading into its first postseason under Shaka Smart, Texas is close to receiving a huge addition.

Center Cameron Ridley, who’s been sidelined since December after having surgery to repair a broken foot, received a doctor’s clearance Monday to return to basketball activities and might play in this week’s Big 12 tournament, Smart said.

Ridley will run and jump for the first time in more than 10 weeks, but Smart said his 6-foot-9 senior has remained in excellent shape with strength and conditioning drills.
