UT president: Perrin to stay on as Longhorns’ AD

AUSTIN — All along, Mike Perrin said he’d be glad to keep his new job as long as his boss wanted him to stick around. That time frame now includes at least the next two and a half years.

In an announcement to the Longhorns’ athletic department staff Thursday, university president Greg Fenves said he is removing the “interim” label from Perrin’s job title and making him UT’s permanent men’s athletic director. Perrin has held the job since Steve Patterson was fired Sept. 15.

Perrin, who played football at UT in the 1960s and spent much of his professional career as a Houston attorney, is being paid a salary of $750,000 in his current contract, which runs through next August.
